Oerlikon Barmag — a business unit of Germany-based Oerlikon Textile GmbH & Co. KG — reports its
first Winding INtegrated Godet Solution (WINGS)-equipped partially oriented yarn (POY) production
spinning system is now in operation at India-based filament yarn manufacturer Wellknown Polyesters
							Ltd.
The WINGS system incorporates the godets and the tangling unit into the winder, resulting in
increased productivity and efficiency, according to Oerlikon. The plug-and-play unit is positioned
at eye level, allow-ing the yarn to be strung by one person and reducing time required for yarn
string-up. The freestanding machine takes up 25-percent less space than conventional systems. WINGS
also requires less compressed air during the string-up process. In addition, the WINGS system
reduces the yarn path angle to 7 degrees, minimizing wrapping difference between the yarn exterior
and interior for improved yarn quality.
