DuPont India R&D Center Recognized With LEED-India Silver Rating

India — May 12, 2010 — The DuPont Knowledge Center (DKC) in Hyderabad, India, one of the
company’s global research and development centers, received the “Silver” rating from the Leadership
in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED-INDIA).  The DKC is the first laboratory site in
India to have been awarded this green building status. The LEED-India Green Building Rating System
is a nationally and internationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation
of high performance green buildings.

Homi Bhedwar, director, DKC, congratulated the team on this achievement, saying, “It is a
proud moment for all of us at the DuPont Knowledge Center. The team has been working to obtain the
LEED certification, aiming to improve occupant well being, environmental performance and economic
return of the buildings using established and innovative practices, standards and design
technologies.”

The “Silver” LEED rating has been awarded to DKC as a validation of its design and
maintenance, which includes measures that allow the center to use less water, conserve energy,
preserve natural resources, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and generate less waste, thus offering
a healthier, cleaner environmental space for employees. The DKC site is also well-planned with good
landscaping and shaded walkways that connect the research centers, clearly demonstrating commitment
to environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

The LEED Green Building Rating System, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC),
measures how well a building or community performs.  LEED provides building owners and
operators a concise framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green
building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions. Today there are LEED projects
in 103 countries.

An integrated project team from the Indian Green Building Council conducted an independent,
third-party verification of the DKC to ensure the center met the highest green building and
performance measures. The parameters on which the DKC was rated include:

* sustainable site

* water efficiency

* energy and atmosphere

* material and resources

* indoor environmental quality

* design innovation.
