DyStar Expands In China
Germany-based DyStar Textilfarben GmbH & Co. Deutschland KG recently established DyStar (Shanghai) Trading Co. Ltd., a new subsidiary, in China. The move increased the textile dye product company’s presence in China to 13 locations, including two head offices, seven liaison offices, three service labs and one production site. The company says about 100 employees, including sales and marketing, administration and technical services staff, will be based in Shanghai.“Our new company in Shanghai improves our service to customers in China because it means they can now obtain dyes imported from our foreign production sites and products from our Wuxi facility out of the same hand,”says Eric Hopmann, general manager of the new company.According to DyStar, China is one of the company’s most important growth markets — double-digit volume growth in 2002 alone. Currently with more than 200 employees in China, the company adds that it is planning to further increase its sales team in the coming months. Moreover, new sales offices in major textile areas, such as Zhejiang and Jiangsu, also are planned.Overall, DyStar employs about 1,350 people (one-third of its work force) in Asia, which accounts for about 35 percent of DyStar’s overall sales. Besides Shanghai, other DyStar manufacturing sites in Asia are in Indonesia and Japan.
