KD Associates Transforms Sri Lanka Fabric Producers Quality And Costs
KD Associates, United Kingdom, has announced the installation of a weighing system at Sri
Lanka-based Stretchline (Pvt) Ltd., a major international elastic manufacturer. Stretchline, part
of the MAS group supplying Victoria Secret stores and Marks & Spencer, amongst others,
installed the system in its flagship Biyagama dyehouse.Feeding both continuous and exhause dyeing
machines, the robust PC-based technology delivers immediate control and cost savings to the dyer,
according to the company. Simple barcode operated interface means the technology is suitable for
use with any operator immediately with zero risk, according to KD Associates. This installation is
the second to be made in Sri Lanka — in 2002, Ocean Lanka, a subsidiary of Honk Kong-based Fountain
Set Holdings, installed a combined weighing and dispensing system, and achieved a payback in less
than nine months, thanks to less waste and improved right-the-first-time processing. The working
environment is significantly improved, thus further confirming Sri Lanka’s position as a compliant
country meeting international standards.”Everyone who sees this product comments on how simple and
robust it is, and how quickly it transforms the way they work,” said Ian Wolvers, KD Associates’
South Asia representative. “To be able to have complete confidence in your color kitchen so quickly
lets you concentrate on real process improvement, knowing your safety, costs and quality are not
being compromised by bad practices.”As with all KD Associates products, the systems are built to be
suitable for installation in harsh operating environments, a fact which testifies to the rapid
growth of sales in Turkey, China, India and Mexico.Press Release Courtesy of KD Associates
