Germany-based Karl Mayer Textilmaschinenfabrik GmbH has made improvements to the AccuTense line of
computer-controlled yarn tensioners, whose patents and production technologies it acquired when it
took over Textrol Inc., a Monroe, N.C.-based supplier of control systems for the man-made fiber
							industry.
AccuTense, a magnetic-induction yarn tensioner, now offers improved accuracy, with tension
deviations of no more than +/- 5 percent from the final value of the setting range, which makes it
suitable for the processing of extremely fine yarns for high-strength technical applications,
according to Karl Mayer. Examples of such applications include electronic circuit boards that
utilize fine glass fabrics, geotextiles, conveyor belts, glass-fiber wallpaper and high-strength
							ballistic material processing.
