Jakob Müller Machinery (China) Co., Ltd with new plant in Suzhou (near Shanghai) with
increased production capacity
In 1997, the Müller Group opened its first production facility in China. 15 years later now,
a new and significantly larger plant is to go into operation, which represents a genuine success
story. The new plant in Suzhou is designed to cope with the sharp increase in demand for our narrow
fabric loom VARITEX and crochet knitting loom RASCHELINA, as well as our label weaving looms MÜGRIP
and MVC and more to come in the future.
The new Müller base in Suzhou can be visited from June 4 – 7, 2012. In addition, visitors to
the ITMA ASIA + CITME 2012 will have an opportunity to visit the plant making use of the daily
shuttle service from the exhibition venue.
Jakob Müller AG’s 125th birthday – The event highlights in our jubilee year
In order to mark the Jakob Müller AG’s 125th birthday, this year’s Narrow Fabric
Days will be held at our parent company in Frick along with the Narrow Fabrics Conference:
12th Narrow Fabrics Conference – September 8, 2012, Frick / Switzerland
The dozen will be reached right on time for the company jubilee, as September 8, 2012, is the
date for the 12th Narrow Fabrics Conference. In the meantime, this occasion has become a permanent
branch fixture at which know-how is communicated and a splendid platform for networking at
international level is provided. The following topics will form the centrepiece of the
presentations for which Müller has again been able to obtain recognised experts:

Narrow Fabric Days 2012 – September 9 – 12, 2012, Frick / Switzerland
From September 9 to 12 customer hospitality will be the top priority at our
headquarters in Frick. This year’s Narrow Fabric Days will provide our customers with an
opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of textile machinery and become better acquainted
with our company and its personnel. Our exhibition hall will provide the venue for a large
technology presentation with all our latest machines such as the label weaving machine MÜGRIP®
MBJ6, the electronically controlled needle loom NH2 53 and its Jacquard counterpart the NHJM2 53,
the electronically controlled raschel machine MDK80D with double knitting heads and the ink jet
printing machine MÜPRINT MDP2 E for elastic and non-elastic narrow fabrics. In addition, the doors
to both our machine assembly facilities in Frick and our component production centre in Möhlin will
also be open, in order to furnish our customers with a more profound impression of activities at
our Swiss location.
Customers visiting the Narrow Fabric Days 2012 will experience a couple of fascinating days
in the Müller world of narrow fabrics.

After-sales service
Around a hundred employees worldwide ensure that customers who have bought equipment from
Müller receive optimum support during the complete operative life of their investment. The range of
services on offer includes telephone assistance, commissioning, repairs and maintenance, as well as
life-prolonging measures such as audits and retrofits on older generation machinery.
Customers have direct contact with Müller specialists through the central helpdesk in Frick.
This is the worldwide interface for assistance in the case of machinery defects. If on-site help is
required, Müller’s global network of more than 20 service stations can be used and one of a total
of 70 service engineers dispatched within an effective deadline.
Jakob Müller Institute of Narrow Fabrics
Founded in 2001, the Jakob Müller Institute of Narrow Fabrics provides narrow fabric industry
training and know-how on a global basis:
1. Courses for the operation and maintenance of Müller machines and the use
of software systems.
2. Courses in textile technology for pattern analysis and product design.
3. Courses for ribbons and narrow fabrics industry managers. Detailed
introduction to all ribbons and narrow fabrics industry production technologies and the business
management aspects of the narrow fabrics production, as well as an insight into various branch
companies.
4. Training centres in Frick, Switzerland and in Suzhou near Shanghai, PR

5. The “flying classroom”, which offers locally held courses in textile

News update – label weaving
Label weaving machine – MÜGRIP® MBJ6
The MBJ6 is the latest generation in the MÜGRIP machine series and had its sales release
during ITMA 2011. MÜGRIP rapier looms are exclusively developed and manufactured for label weaving
and are the world’s most frequently used machine in this field.
As opposed to previous MBJ models, the MBJ6 is equipped with an additional, sixth repeat,
which in-creases the machine’s rated weaving width to 1,380 mm. A spatial crank gearing provides
the rapier drive of the MBJ6 and its speed is transferred gently to the weft yarn to be inserted.
As a consequence, the speed of the five-repeat machine is retained, but output is 20 per cent
higher.
Shedding takes place via an SPE Jacquard machine with 1,536 hooks and the machine on display
at ITMA Asia + CITME 2012 has 1,152 Jacquard functions. The MBJ6 is available in 4, 6, 8 and 12
weft colour versions. The universal rapier newly developed for this machine generation permits the
success-ful use of an even greater range of yarn qualities beginning from 20 dtex. Furthermore, the
new cutting elements stand for uniform label selvedge quality across the entire weaving section.
All the label designs manufactured on MBJ models can be exchanged reciprocally and are 100 per cent
reproducible.
The new machine also employs an innovative, energy-optimised drive concept, which cuts power
losses to a minimum and provides a 20 % improvement in the label weaving energy balance.
Last, but not least, in spite of the additional sixth repeat, the room height required for
MBJ6, as well as its footprint correspond with those of the predecessor model while the machine’s
total weight is actually lower.
New update – narrow fabric weaving
Electronically controlled narrow fabric loom – NH2 53
The NH2 53 is an electronically controlled loom for the weaving of elastic and non-elastic
narrow fab-rics. Electronically controlled shedding takes place via linear motors mounted directly
on the shafts. These replace pattern chains and drums and permit both unlimited repeat lengths and
pattern changes in minimum time. The weft and auxiliary thread transport, as well as the narrow
fabric take-off and main drive are also all electronically controlled and smoothly adjustable. As
compared to conventional nee-dle looms, the NH2 53 is fitted with considerably fewer mechanical
parts, which results in both less wear and a cut in energy consumption of around 35 per cent, i.e.
max. 1 kW.
A maximum of sixteen harness frames are available for patterning and the NHJM2 53 with 192
func-tions is an ideal supplement for narrow fabrics with Jacquard patterns.
The machine control system consists of two components:
1. A unit that is fix-mounted onto the machine and the operation of which
is limited to the func-tions required for weaving operations
2. A portable operating unit with wireless programming data transmission to
the machines (one device for several machines). All the relevant data and parameters are stored and
can be called up at any time for statistical purposes.
News update – rope weaving
Electronically controlled rope weaving machine – NH2M 53
To date, ropes have been manufactured exclusively on braiding machines. However, using
MultiSphere technology ropes, with or without cores, as well as twine and cord, etc. can now be
woven on both the NC2M and the electronically controlled NH2M narrow fabric needle loom. These
machines are designed for a variety of rope diameters and differ from their conventional
counterparts with regard to reed, fabric guide and take-off design.
Sheath and core thread insertion takes place via a compensation device, which also supports
the for-mation of a three-dimensional structure. As opposed to standard rope braiding systems, the
new process stands out due to the following advantages:
• Higher productivity.
• Longer, knot-free items due to the extended yarn lengths available on the
bobbins/warp beams as compared to braiding bobbins.
• Far lower production and manufacturing costs.
News update – warp knitting
MDC 3/830E electronically controlled warp knitting machine with weft insertion
For a number of years, direct drives using linear and servomotors have played an increasingly
impor-tant role in the design of Jakob Müller AG narrow fabric looms and knitting machines.
Consequently, the new MDC (Müller Direct Crochet) is now available in three versions:
• The electronically controlled MDC 8/630 with a working width of 630 mm
and a maximum of 8 weft bars
• The electronically controlled MDC 3/830E with a working width of 830 mm,
2 longitudinal bars with a maximum stroke of 450mm, a rubber rod and a part weft bar with a maximum
stroke of 25mm
• The mechanically controlled MDC 3/830M with a working width of 830mm and three
weft bars for simple designs
The electronically controlled weft bars offer great design variety, quick article changes and
endless repeat lengths. The machine speed can be adjusted to the stroke required by the pattern,
i.e. the prod-uct characteristics.
The product range of the MDC 3/830E is extremely wide and extends from technical applications
to underwear items in both elastic and non-elastic variations. In addition, the use of differing
types of nee-dle facilitates the utilisation of a diversity of yarn qualities that includes natural
and synthetic fibres with 20 to 3,000 dtex.
Article patterns can be fed in directly via the MDC C200 control module, or as an
alternative, MÜCARD2 pattern design software is available.
News update – textile printing
Inkjet direct printing system -MÜPRINT MDP2 E
The MDP2, which was launched two years ago for the printing of non-elastic narrow fabrics and
belts, is now available in a slightly modified form as the MDP2 E for the contactless ink jet
printing of elastic and non-elastic narrow fabrics and belts. The machine operates from roll to
roll, from crate to crate and from roll to crate and vice versa. The widths processed may
amount to as much as 400 mm and in the case of narrower items, i.e. with a minimum width of 15 mm,
16 narrow fabrics can be printed during parallel running. A minimum gap of 10 mm between the
fabrics is necessary. The contactless process permits the printing of relatively heavy and thick
products with coarse surface structures.

Universal warping machine – SMA400
The new SMA-400 warping machine permits the processing of warp beams with maximum disc
diame-ters and width dimensions of up to 400 mm. The machine is fitted with a simple control
system and by employing a combination of a creel for unrolling elastic threads and a pre-stretcher,
users can warp highly elastic yarns containing latex threads and crepe, synthetic elastomers,
single- or double-wound rubber thread and non-elastic yarns with a maximum of 3,000 dtex.

Dyeing / finishing and calendering line – MFR SE
The MFR SE is a modular design line for the continuous dyeing and/or finishing of several
parallel run-ning narrow fabrics across a working width of 30 cm. The line is fitted with an
efficient thermosol/steam oven, which ensures absolutely uniform temperature distribution
throughout the entire fixing chamber.
The MFR SE is capable of processing light- to medium-weight, elastic and non-elastic
polyamide, cot-ton and polyester narrow fabrics at a maximum working speed of up to 30 m/min. The
machine is de-signed for small series and medium-sized production batches.
Shown at ITMA ASIA + CITME 2012: a dyeing / finishing and calendering line – MFR SE – for the
treat-ing of satin tapes consisting of a feed unit, a padding machine, an infra-red dryer, washing
tanks, 10-cylinder driers, a two roll smoothing calendering device and a take-off unit.
