Yiwu City Prepares For Hosiery, Knitting And Sewing Shows

The 13th China (Yiwu) International Exhibition on Hosiery, Knitting, Dyeing & Finishing
Machinery (Yiwu H&G 2012) will take place November 27-30. After 12 successful editions, the
show again will bring hosiery, underwear, knitting and apparel machinery exhibitors to the Yiwu
International Expo Centre in Yiwu City, Zhejiang Province, China.

Show organizers report this area of China is well-known for hosiery and underwear production.
In Zhejiang Province, there are 1,425 sock manufacturers that export goods worth more than US$600
million each year. Socks account for 15.6 percent of Yiwu’s exports. The region also is home to
more than 150 seamless knitting companies that produce approximately 150 million pairs of seamless
underwear and 500 million pairs of shorts each year. These numbers represent approximately 73
percent of the seamless underwear and shorts manufactured in China each year and 24 percent of the
worldwide total.

Yiwu is organized by China Commodities City Group Co. Ltd. and Adsale Exhibition Services
Ltd., and co-organized by the Yiwu International Expo Centre. Additional supporters include the
China Chamber of International Commerce Yiwu Chamber of Commerce; Yiwu City Hosiery Industry
Association; Yiwu City Braiding Industry Association; Yiwu Seamless Knitting Association; Yiwu City
Zipper Industry Association; Yiwu City Garment Industry Association; Yiwu City Glove Industry
Association; and the Pujiang County Knitting, Printing and Dyeing Industry Association.

In addition, companies that have formed strategic partnerships with the show include:

“Being the show organizer, I am glad to know that many leading enterprises, industry experts
and associations support and participate actively in the show,” said Parry Chung, general manager,
Adsale, at a recent Yiwu H&G 2012 press conference. “This year, there will be numerous forums
and seminars focusing on industry hot topics, [and] the show will integrate technology, design and
branding, aiming at providing buyers with all-round solutions.”

Approximately 80 exhibitors, buyers, trade journalists and association personnel attended the
Yiwu H&G 2012 and Yiwu S&G 2012 press conference.


Exhibitors And Attendees


Preshow numbers point to some 300 exhibitors from 11 countries and regions that will exhibit
in the 15,000-square-meter exhibition area. The show floor will be open from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
November 27-29; and from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. November 30.

Exhibits will be grouped into the following special thematic zones to provide convenience to
show attendees:

  • Seamless underwear machines;
  • Knitting and hosiery machines;
  • Printing, dyeing and finishing machines;
  • Braiding, zipper making and logo printing machines; and
  • Yarns, fibers, lace and spare parts.




Yiwu S&G 2012



The China (Yiwu) International Exhibition on Sewing Machinery & Equipment (Yiwu S&G
2012) will take place concurrently with Yiwu H&G 2012. It also will be held at the Yiwu
International Expo Centre with the halls open the same hours as Yiwu H&G. Show organizers
report this one-stop-shop sourcing platform provides a synergistic effect with broader vision for
buyers from different sectors of the textile industry. The theme for this year’s show is
“Technological Innovation, New Product Promotion, Strengthening Cooperation and Facilitating
Interactions.” Just as Yiwu City is a hub for socks and seamless knitters, the area is also strong
in apparel production. According to show organizers, in the first half of 2011, total apparel and
accessories exports from that area totaled US$650 million.


Learning Opportunities


Visitors to both shows will have the opportunity to learn about the latest trends in the
industry through a series of seminars and related activities. Some of the events include: Seminar
on Management of China’s Branding, China Underwear Market Development Forum, 2013-2014 Underwear
Design & Trends Forum, Hosiery & Knitting Collections Display Zone, and Underwear &
Home Textiles Display Zone. As of Textile World Asia’s press time, specific show event details have
yet to be announced.
