Atlas Copco Introduces Energy-Efficient ZS Screw Blowers

The Oil-free Air division of Atlas Copco AG — a Sweden-based provider of compressors, power tools,
construction and mining equipment and other industrial productivity solutions — has introduced the
ZS energy-saving screw blower for applications including textiles, pulp and paper, chemicals,
wastewater treatment, pneumatic conveying and power generation, among other applications. According
to Atlas Copco, screw technology is 30 percent more energy-efficient on average than lobe
technology, which does not meet current low-carbon requirements. Atlas is replacing its entire
range of “Roots” type rotary lobe blowers with the ZS screw blowers. The new blower features an
integrated gearbox, the oil system, and an innovative design that unites all the components into a
plug-and-run solution.

“Energy consumption typically represents 80 percent of the lifecycle costs of a blower,” said
Chris Lybaert, president, Atlas Copco’s Oil-free Air Division. “By introducing screw technology to
our air blower range, we now offer a complete product portfolio of compressors and blowers for all
applications and processes below 4 bar(e)/58 psig. Atlas Copco’s screw technology helps customers
to save energy, which is a major advantage in a highly competitive marketplace.”
