One of India’s largest polyester manufacturers, Indo Rama Synthetics (I) Ltd., has selected
Germany-based Zimmer AG to build two new continuous polyester polycondensation plants. Located in
Butibori, Maharashtra, each plant will have a capacity of 140,000 tons per year after start-up,
which is expected in mid-2006. One of the plants will be attached to two polyester staple fiber
lines, also to be supplied by Zimmer. The second facility will be used as a direct melt spinning
partially oriented yarn plant. Zimmer is responsible for the technology, engineering and equipment,
and also will oversee erection and commissioning of the project. The total investment of 150
million euros will be financed through export credit facilities from German banks, as well as
internal funds.
