Switzerland-based Uster Technologies AG has announced plans to establish a manufacturing and
development facility in China.Geoffrey Scott, Uster CEO, said China is a significant market for the
company, adding that recent investments in its sales and service operation has increased the
company’s presence in all major textile areas, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao, Urumuqi and
Wuhan.“The time is now right for us to take the next step in expanding our operations in China with
local manufacturing and development,”Scott said.“This decision is part of Uster Technologies’
strategy to significantly invest in the Chinese market and grow business with products manufactured
for the domestic Chinese market.”In 1982, Uster started a cooperation program with China’s Academy
of Textile Industry with the aim of improving yarn quality in China. Since then, the company said,
it has become the preferred partner for quality control in the laboratories of Chinese spinning
mills. In 2003, the Fiber Inspection Bureau of China purchased 21 USTER® HVI units to establish an
official cotton classification system in China.
