Century Enka Expands Capacity

India-based Century Enka Ltd., a BK Birla Group company, has undertaken a 2.8 billion rupee
(about $60.6 million) capacity expansioncum- upgradation program.A plant will be set up in Bharuch,
India, to convert surplus polyester chips to polyester yarn. In addition, the company is expanding
the nylon tire cord fabric capacity at its Pune, India, facility by about 7,500 metric tons
annually, as well as revamping its polymerization capacity. The company said the decision was made
because current domestic nylon tire cord fabric capacity can only meet about 70 percent of the
annual demand of about 70,000 metric tons.
