Arvind Mills Expands Capacity
India-based The Arvind Mills Ltd. is planning to expand its business to include garment
exporting after textile quotas are lifted in 2005. The company, which until now produces only denim
fabrics for multinational brands, will not say which brands it is negotiating with to contract the
manufacturing of jeans, but admits that designs have been approved and shipments are planned.Arvind
Mills also has recently commissioned a jean manufacturing plant in Mauritius and expanded its shirt
manufacturing capacity to 2.4 million units at its Bangalore, India, facility. With this increase,
the company now has the capacity to manufacture 7.2 million shirts.
