Schlafhorst Autoconer X5 Offers Updated Automated, Flexible Winding Operation

Germany-based Oerlikon Schlafhorst, a business unit of Oerlikon Textile GmbH & Co. KG, reports
its Autoconer X5 package winding machine, a redesigned version of the Autoconer 5, offers greater
automation and flexibility compared to the original model, and also enables improved productivity
and product quality as well as more efficient use of energy resources.

Features include: choice of PreciFX drumless yarn traversing system that offers improved
individual package quality, or a drum system; and splicing technology that ensures highest splicing
quality — both offering reproducible results. Autoconer X5 also is equipped with the X-Change
doffer, which speeds the package doffing process; central settings to speed the start-up process;
and single motor drives to improve the power dynamics. The company reports the machine’s
intelligent process automation improves production profitability; sensor- and
single-motor-controlled piecing cycles reduce waste and energy usage; process sequences are
designed to save time and labor; and a newly designed cooling concept optimizes energy usage. Other
features include state-of-the-art electronics and CAN bus concept, and Plug & Wind technology.
