CHEMNITZ, Germany — October 24, 2026 — Terrot Textilmaschinen GmbH, the German circular knitting machinery manufacturer and a premium engineering provider within the Santoni China Group, will showcase its UCC 672-ME at ITMA ASIA + CITME 2026 in Shanghai, China. Designed for premium mattress ticking, upholstery and other demanding textile applications, the double- electronic circular knitting machine combines independently programmable three-way needle selection on both cylinder and dial with high production output and extensive patterning capabilities. The technology enables manufacturers to develop sophisticated, double-sided fabric structures while increasing design flexibility and supporting efficient, application-specific textile manufacturing.
Dual-sided technology expands design possibilities
At the heart of the UCC 672-ME is electronic three-way needle selection on both cylinder and dial. By independently programming knit, tuck and miss actions at every feeder on both needle systems, manufacturers can create intricate jacquard patterns, three-dimensional textures, ventilation zones and reversible fabric structures with extensive design freedom.
At ITMA ASIA + CITME 2026, Terrot will highlight a 38-inch UCC 672-ME configured in E20 gauge with 88 feeders and electronic three-way selection on both needle systems. The exhibition machine features a specialised mattress-fabric concept combining differentiated fabric zones, comfort-oriented construction and ventilation structures on both fabric sides. The intended cooling sensation, skin- contact properties and ventilation performance depend on yarn selection, fabric engineering and finishing.
Available in diameters from 34 to 42 inches, the UCC 672-ME supports configurations of up to 88 feeders at 38 inches and 100 feeders at 42 inches. Maximum speeds are 19 rpm and 17 rpm, respectively, with up to 2.4 feeds per inch. Beyond mattress ticking, applications include upholstery, spacer fabrics, footwear uppers and selected outerwear textiles.
From digital design to production performance
The UCC 672-ME combines patterning flexibility with production-oriented engineering. Its divided dial cam system facilitates needle changes without fully removing the needle selection units, while transitions between knit and tuck structures can be made without completely removing the needle selection units. These features support faster changeovers and more responsive sampling.
Integrated yarn guidance helps process long floating threads reliably, while configurable fabric take- down systems accommodate widths of up to 1,708 mm and roll diameters of up to 1,050 mm. PAINT TERROT pattern and design software connects digital pattern preparation with machine production, helping manufacturers develop differentiated collections and respond to changing customer requirements.
Terrot’s production references for a 38-inch machine in E20 gauge, with 88 feeders running at 19 rpm and calculated at 85% efficiency, include outputs of approximately 682 and 787 meters per day for two mattress-fabric constructions and approximately 731 meters per day for an upholstery fabric. Actual production depends on yarn quality, fabric construction, machine settings and operating conditions.
Application-driven innovation and manufacturing flexibility
For premium mattress and upholstery manufacturers, fabric structure is an increasingly important means of product differentiation. The UCC 672-ME enables complex surface designs, multi-color effects, raised jacquard patterns and structured zones. Depending on the application, these capabilities can support fabric concepts focused on comfort, ventilation, tactile quality and visual appeal.
The machine’s flexibility also provides a platform for evaluating different yarn systems, including cotton, polyester, viscose, Tencel™ and suitable technical yarns. Recycled and bio-based fibers may be incorporated where material characteristics and processing requirements permit.
By combining versatile fabric construction with reduced setup requirements for selected changes, the UCC 672-ME supports manufacturers seeking to improve operational flexibility and develop more differentiated products. Its contribution to sustainability depends on the materials used, energy consumption, downstream processing, fabric durability and end-of-life options.
Engineering within an integrated global ecosystem
As a premium provider within the Santoni China Group, Terrot combines specialised German circular knitting engineering with an international industrial context. Aligned with the Group’s theme, “Machines Evolved · Intelligence Delivered,” this approach connects machinery, material expertise, digital pattern development and application advisory to address evolving manufacturing requirements.
As textile manufacturers balance global sourcing with regional production strategies, flexible machinery and application-specific expertise can support more responsive development and production planning. Digitalization, sustainable textiles, smart fabrics and circular-economy principles are also shaping investment priorities, increasing the importance of adaptable equipment, transparent material information and substantiated environmental claims.
“For premium fabric manufacturers, differentiation begins with control over the structure of the fabric itself. The UCC 672-ME’s three-way selection on both cylinder and dial gives customers the freedom to develop complex designs on both sides of the fabric while retaining a clear focus on industrial production requirements,” said Martin Vorsatz, Managing Director of Terrot Textilmaschinen GmbH.
“Our application focus is to translate the machine’s technical capabilities into fabric solutions that work with the customer’s own yarns, design objectives and production conditions. Testing structures in a relevant manufacturing context is essential to evaluating quality, process stability and commercial potential,” said Thomas Fischer, Head of Application Advisory at Terrot Textilmaschinen GmbH.
“Manufacturers are looking for equipment that can support product differentiation without unnecessarily complicating their operations. Flexible patterning, efficient changeovers and a broad application range can contribute to a stronger investment case when they are aligned with the customer’s target markets and production model,” added Michael Lau, Head of Research & Development.
