SHANGHAI — October 6, 2026 — Yarn Expo Spring will welcome the global yarn and fibre industry back to the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) from 10 – 12 March 2027. The upcoming fair follows its strongest edition to date, held in March this year, when over 600 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions connected with more than 25,000 visitors from 113 countries and regions.
The record turnout reaffirmed the fair’s role as a key venue for sourcing, innovation and industry exchange. Returning alongside Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Spring Edition, Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Spring Edition, CHIC and PH Value, the comprehensive yarn and fibre trade fair will create further opportunities for the textile value chain to connect around changing material and sourcing priorities.
Prior to the fair, Ms Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, commented: “In a changing economic landscape, last year’s record participation showed how important it is for the yarn and fibre industry to meet in Shanghai, exchange ideas and understand what the market needs next. In March, suppliers will have the opportunity to present their latest developments to buyers from apparel, home textiles, knitting and related sectors, discuss requirements and build business relationships for the long term.”
Yarn and fibre markets evolve with changing sourcing needs
As the yarn, fibre and thread market expands towards a projected USD 182.7 billion by 2032, Asia-Pacific remains central to spinning, filament and textile production, as well as downstream demand. China’s integrated fibre, yarn, textile and equipment segments further strengthen Shanghai’s role as a location for industry exchange. Covering cotton and linen, chemical and regenerated fibre, fancy yarn and much more, the upcoming fair is set to provide a practical environment for industry players to explore developments, engage with new and established partners, and identify opportunities across regional and international markets.
As sourcing requirements become more complex, buyers are looking for materials that combine performance with credible environmental and supply-chain credentials. Interest is growing in recycled and bio-based inputs, improved traceability and safer processing, alongside specialised solutions such as glass fibre yarns, where factors including strength, thermal behaviour and processing performance are important.
The previous edition welcomed a range of innovative exhibitors, including well-known names like Better International, Circ Inc, Everest Textile and Toray Industries, many of whom reported positive business outcomes. Next spring, the fair’s International Zone and eight dedicated zones – Cashmere Yarn, Cotton Yarn, Chemical Fibre, Fancy Yarn, Linen Yarn, Silk Yarn, Wool Yarn and Digital Solution Zone – will help visitors navigate this broad offer across natural, man-made, and various specialty categories, making it easier to identify materials and suppliers relevant to their end-use needs.
The value of such direct engagement was reflected in productive feedback from the previous edition. Mr Raj Bhimani, Sales Manager of Spinfab Spinners, exhibiting in the India Pavilion, commented: “The fair provided an exceptional platform for connecting with the global textile community. We engaged with a remarkably diverse range of customers – from luxury European suit makers seeking our aesthetically stunning, long-lasting yarns, to mass-market fashion buyers from Southeast Asia impressed by how our cutting-edge technology ensures consistency at scale.”
Innovation-focused insight exchange helps fairgoers adapt to new demands
Complementing the exhibition, Yarn Expo Spring 2027 will offer a range of fringe events that provides added visibility, connecting material innovation with commercial and creative applications. Highlights include the China Yarns Fashion Trends, Tongkun · China Fibre Fashion Trend 2027/2028, New Fibre New World – Textile Materials Innovation Activities, and selected Enterprise Product Launch sessions.
These activities will bring together material trends, product applications and innovation perspectives, helping participants interpret how market expectations are translating into fibre and yarn development. They will also complement the fair’s product offering by creating opportunities to explore emerging materials, exchange market insights and bridge the gap between R&D and market implementation.
Yarn Expo Spring is organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT. The fair will be held alongside Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Spring Edition, Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Spring Edition, CHIC and PH Value, with the resultant synergy allowing exhibitors and buyers to maximise their business opportunities.
