Cary, N.C.-based Cotton Incorporated reports its Engineered Fiber Selection® (EFS) System has
been implemented by five mills owned by three different manufacturers in China. The EFS system, a
suite of computer software programs developed to manage high-volume-instrument fiber data to
produce high-quality yarns, is used by nearly 70 mills worldwide.
“Chinese mills are one of the major customers of US cotton,” said Charles H. Chewning Jr., vice
president, EFS Marketing – China, Cotton Incorporated.
“Providing these customers with a means of optimizing the quality and consistency of that fiber
helps their business and that of the American cotton growers.”
Jiaxing Denim is the most recent licensee of EFS software. Jiaxing, along with Central
Textiles – the first Chinese company to implement EFS – and Lanyan Group Ltd. -another
Chinese company that has installed EFS – consume 850,000 bales of cotton per year.
Jiang Ming, vice chairman, Lanyan, reported his company has lowered costs and improved product
quality since adopting the EFS system.
