SRF Wins Deming Prize, Plans Expansion
SRF Ltd., India, has won the Deming Application Prize for Total Quality Management (TQM). It is the first tire cord company to win the prize, which is presented by the Japanese Union of Scientists and Engineers in recognition of companies with high standards of application of TQM practices. The prize was named after William Edwards Deming, whose name is synonymous with quality control and quality benchmarks.The Industrial Synthetics Business of SRF produces tire cord fabrics in four plants (three in India and one in the United Arab Emirates) and employs more than 1,500 people.In related news, SRF is planning to invest 2.6 billion rupees over four years to modernize and expand its plants. The expansion plan includes a new polymerization unit and a new spinning unit.
