Reliance, Rieter EstablishFiber Application Center
Reliance Industries Ltd., India, and Rieter Machine Works Ltd., Switzerland, have jointly set up a state-of-the-art Reliance Fibre Application Centre at Patalganga, near Mumbai, to conduct application research on polyester fiber and spun yarn.The facility, established at an investment of about $3 million, is equipped with chute feed cards, auto leveler draw frames, ring frames, open-end spinning machines and flyer frames. The center also has the capability to simulate mill climatic conditions.Reliance said the new Fibre Application Centre will work in coordination with the Reliance Technology Centre in Patalganga and the Reliance Testing Centre in Coimbatore for further fiber application testing and yarn spinning simulation.
In related news, Subodh P. Sapra, president of Reliance’s polyester sector, has been awarded the Companionship of the Textile Institute distinction by U.K.-based Textile Institute. The honor is given to individuals who are recognized as having substantially advanced the general interests of the textile industry. Sapra is the sixth recipient from India to be recognized in the past 50 years.
