Trützschler, Rosink Team For Cotton Swabs Carding Technology

Trützschler GmbH & Co. KG and Rosink GmbH & Co. Maschinenfabrik, both based in Germany, have collaborated for some time on machinery for card slivers used to produce cotton swabs. A Trützschler cotton card produces a web that is split into four fine card slivers with a count of roughly 1.5 grams per meter (g/m). A Rosink Quad Coiler is then used to coil the slivers into separate cans. These slivers are used to produce approximately 50 million cotton swabs per hour. The two companies report more than 80 such machine combinations currently are used by manufacturers to produce cotton swabs.

The two companies recently worked together again to develop a system that can produce 4 slivers weighing between 3 and 4 g/m each, which are compatible with Switzerland-based FALU’s new cotton swab machine with an integrated drafting system. FALU manufactures automated machinery for the production of cotton swabs, cotton pads and nonwoven cotton products. In this system, the companies report a Trützschler Card TC 11-H is used with the Rosink sliver splitting technology to double the card production while ensuring perfect sliver evenness with maximum system efficiency.
