The second edition of Techtextil India, the International Trade Fair for Technical Textiles and
Nonwovens, will be held Oct. 10-12, 2009, at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai. Organized by
Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt. Ltd., and supported by the Office of the Textile
Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, the biennial trade show will be held in
conjunction with Heimtextil India as part of Textile Days India.
The show will feature 10 product groups representing the technical textile sector’s entire
value chain, grouped according to 12 application areas.
According to analysts, Asia is the center of global growth for end-use consumption of
technical textiles, and new markets such as India present the fastest growth opportunities. The
Textiles Committee reported in 2008 that India’s technical textiles industry is expected to grow at
a rate of 12 percent annually and rise in value to 10 billion euros by 2013.
Show organizers expect this year’s event to surpass the 2007 debut of Techtextil India, which
presented 119 exhibitors to a total of 16,689 visitors attending Textile Days India, which also
included Heimtextil India and Texworld India. “Despite the current economic situation, many
international companies and associations are interested in participating,” said Michael Jaenecke,
brand manager, Techtextil. “So we are very optimistic to again have a successful show.”
