Karl Mayer Celebrates 75 Years

Germany-based textile machinery manufacturer Karl Mayer Textilmaschinenfabrik GmbH is celebrating
its 75th anniversary.

The company was founded in 1937 by Karl Mayer Sr., who opened a mechanical workshop in
Obertshausen, Germany, to produce turned parts. Ten years later, the company began producing warp
knitting machines. Today, Karl Mayer remains a family-run company. Its business units include Warp
Knitting, Warp Preparation, Technical Textiles and Parts and Components; and it has operations in
Switzerland, Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, China, Hong Kong and North America.

Karl Mayer recently held an anniversary celebration on Eltviller Aue, an island in the Rhine
River that is owned by the Mayer family. The event included musical entertainment by the company’s
orchestra and a string quartet, a champagne reception, and a gala dinner. Approximately 600 guests
from around the world — including textile manufacturers, suppliers, service providers and former
employees — attended the event, which was inaugurated by Mayer family members, Suzanne Forker and
Managing Director Fritz P. Mayer.
