demand for technical textile endproducts in China is good news for Cinte Techtextil China.This
September, Shanghai will again host Cinte Techtextil China, the International Trade Fair for
Technical Textiles and Nonwovens. Touted by its organizers — which include Hong Kong-based Messe
Frankfurt (HK) Ltd., the Sub Council of Textile Industry of the China Council for the Promotion of
International Trade (CCPIT) and the China Nonwovens & Industrial Textiles Association (CNITA) —
as “the only specialized show in Asia dedicated to technical textiles and nonwovens,” the 2004 show
will take place September 1-3 at Intex Shanghai.The exhibition will present companies that are
involved in technology, machinery and accessories; woven fabrics, laid webs, braidings and knitted
fabrics; nonwovens; coated textiles; composites; fibers and yarns; research, development, planning
and consultation; associations; and trade publications.While Messe Frankfurt is not making any
projections on the number of attendees and exhibitors at this year’s show, the company is citing
2002’s results as a reliable reflection of what to expect at this upcoming event.
Shanghai welcomes Cinte Techtextil China this September.International PresenceAccording to
Messe Frankfurt, a record-breaking 5,215 attendees from 42 countries were at the last event. Of
those, the majority came from mainland China, with more than half from the local Shanghai area. The
majority of the international visitors came from Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong.In terms of
exhibitors, 213 companies were at the 2002 show, representing a 75-percent increase from the prior
event. International companies made up about one-third of the exhibitors, with Austria, Belgium,
France and Germany represented by national pavilions.As of press time, show organizers have
confirmed that the German pavilion, organized by the Central Confederation of the German Textile
and Clothing Industry and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, will
return to Cinte Techtextil China 2004.According to Messe Frankfurt, China has been the top
investment country for the German textile industry two years in a row. The importance of the
Chinese market to the German industry can be seen in the cooperation agreement signed in August
2003 between the Confederation of the German Textile and Fashion Industry, the China National
Textile Industry Council (CNTIC) and China’s Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles
(CCCT).
The show will take place at INTEX Shanghai.Symposium Focuses On Growing SectorsIn addition to
the exhibition, the Cinte Techtextil China Symposium is scheduled to take place from August 31 to
September 2 at the Shanghai International Trade Centre, adjacent to the show.According to Messe
Frankfurt, the symposium will focus on five themes: the present status of technical textiles and
development; building technology; agricultural technology; transportation technology; and medical
and protective technology.Additionally, in light of the growing use of membrane structures in
constructions across China — there are more than 2 billion square meters in use now, and the number
is expected to grow by 30 percent annually — the China Textile International Exchange Centre
(CTIEC) will hold the International Conference on Fiber-Reinforced Membrane Technology and
Structure during the symposium. The conference will focus on the application and development of
