United States-based Verdezyne, a developer of renewable nylon fiber and biobased chemicals, has
been granted BioNexus status by Malaysian Biotechnology Corp. (BiotechCorp), Malaysia’s primary
biobased industry development agency. Verdezyne received the award from Malaysia’s Prime Minister
The Right Honourable Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak during a special announcement
ceremony held during a meeting this week of the Biotechnology International Advisory Panel in San
Francisco.
Verdezyne announced in June that it would set up a biochemical production facility in
Malaysia, where it plans to use palm oil as its feedstock for commercial-scale production of
biobased adipic acid

to qualified international and Malaysian biotechnology enterprises that are conducting value-added
biotechnology and/or life sciences activities. The award includes financial incentives, grants and
other support to facilitate development.
