Monforts Supplies Machinery To Pakistani Manufacturers

A. Monforts Textilmaschinen GmbH & Co. KG, Germany, has sold a Monfortex denim-finishing
range to US Denim, a division of US Apparel, for its plant in Raiwind, Lahore, Pakistan; and two
Montex tenters, a Thermex 6500 hotflue dyeing unit and a sanforizer to Nishat Chunian Ltd. (NCL),
also based in Raiwind. The machinery was ordered through Al Ameen, Monforts’ distributor in
Pakistan.

The Monfortex line — which has a width of 2 meters and is equipped with a Goller desizing
unit, the Monforts Skew Dry system and a Monforts sanforizing unit — is the first installed in
Pakistan. The line processes cotton fabrics, 30 percent also containing Lycra®, in weights ranging
between 300 and 500 grams per square meter. Shrinkage rates range from 8 to 12 percent.

US Denim recently installed a Monfortex denim-finishing range in its Raiwind, Lahore,
Pakistan plant.

The tenters installed at NCL feature
eight chambers, with one having a working width of 3.2 meters and the other 3.4 meters. The
3.2-meter model, used primarily for finishing and heat-setting at temperatures from 120 to 200°C,
runs at speeds ranging from 60 to 100 meters per minute (m/min). The 3.4-meter model, which
features an EVAC predryer and two infrared units, is used for pigment dyeing at temperatures
ranging from 180 to 190°C.

NCL’s five-chamber Thermex 6500, featuring the Monforts Econtrol system and a working width
of 3.2 meters, is synchronized with a Küsters padder and has an average running speed of 75 m/min.
Dyes used include vat, reactive-disperse and vat-disperse; and processing temperatures range from
110 to 120°C. The sanforizer, also with a 3.2-meter working width, restricts shrinkage to 3
percent.
