Monforts Ships Three Tenters To Bahrain
A. Monforts Textilmaschinen GmbH & Co. KG, Germany, has delivered three Montex 6000 tenters and a pad-thermosole range to Bahrain-based Manama Textile Mills, which is building a new $35 million home furnishings facility that will produce up to 600,000 sheet sets per month.“The concept of the plant is to make medium- and high-end products that will land in major brand stores all over the United States and Europe,”said Adnan Bashir, Manama’s corporate and marketing manager.According to Monforts, Manama had initially ordered only two tenters — a 10-chamber gas-fired unit and an eight-chamber tenter. However, Bashir said the company recognized the possibility of a bottleneck in production and ordered a second eight-chamber tenter. The third line will incorporate two infrared pre-dryers and a Monforts Thermex range that has a speed of 50 meters per minute.

Hamid Nishat, Manama CEOThe 10-chamber tenter is used for the first pass, following sizing and bleaching of the greige fabric.Depending on the process required, the fabric is printed and/or dyed before continuing through either of the two eight-chamber tenters. All three tenters have a fabric working width of 3.2 meters (m) and a fabric weight of about 150 grams per square meter (g/m2) for sheeting and up to 250 g/m2 for apparel. The tenters can process 100-percent cotton and polyester-cotton blends.Manama, established in 1995, operates three weaving mills and two spinning mills, producing 40 million linear meters of untreated woven fabrics. According to CEO Hamid Nishat, the company developed a finished product strategy in the past two years with the goal of becoming a major player in the sector.“ With our strong base in spinning and weaving, it made sense to cash in on our own products,”he said.“Making the greige into a finished product provides an increased added value.”
