DyStar Adds Third Facility In China
Germany-based DyStar Textilfarben GmbH has announced that it is investing about $55 million in a new textile dyes facility in Nanjing, China, to expand its production base and step up its focus on this key growth market. The new plant will be DyStar’s third production location in China.According to Dystar, China is predicted to account for 40 percent of global output of textiles in the medium term; the new production site is a response to the growing demand for quality dyes in the country.Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony in March, Clemens Willée, DyStar CEO, said,“This new production site will speed up our growth in China. At the same time it will strengthen our international competitiveness and boost our market leadership.”DyStar already has more than 300 employees in China and the new facility in Nanjing will create another 400 jobs. The company said Nanjing was selected for its excellent infrastructure and strong support from local officials.At the new production complex, the company will produce dyes for cellulosic and synthetic fibers. Builtin flexibility will permit the manufacture of other dyes and extension of the infrastructure in line with requirements. Start-up of operation is scheduled for the first half of 2006
