Itema India Ltd. InaugurationEstablished 5 years ago by Miro Radici, the Italy-based ITEMA
Group already has become an important international textile presence thanks to its ability to
provide customers with custom-made products and solutions. Attention to product development went
hand-in-hand with an additional rationalization, internationalization and consolidation of the
activities performed by Itema’s companies in the strategic countries. After the inauguration of
Itema Shanghai in April 2005 and Itema America in May 2005, the most recent important event for the
company was the opening of Itema India Ltd., which was held September 24, in Coimbatore, India.
Itema India, which is located in a new 1,600-square-meter building, provides sales and marketing
functions including a showroom, after-sales and spare-parts service and an electronic circuit board
repair center and training center for end-user technicians for the Somet, Vamatex and Savio
companies. From the Itema India headquarters in Coimbatore, offices in Mumbai, Gunthur and Delhi —
which operate in the relevant areas with support of seven representative agencies — are
coordinated. ITEMA India employs a total of 87 people, 63 of which are dedicated to customer
service. If necessary, these customer service agents can cover other Middle and Far East countries
from Turkey to Iran and Indonesia.

The inauguration, attended by more than 200 Indian textile entrepreneurs, was opened by
Danilo Arizzi, president of Itema Asia, and chief of Itema companies worldwide. In his opening
speech, Arizzi emphasized the importance of both the volumes and technical/technological
development of the Indian market. In the last 10 years, the Indian market has registered an
increase of installed textile machinery close to that of China and therefore, considering a smaller
population and geographical dimension, has exhibited a higher growth relative to the Chinese
market. Gabriele Checchini, CEO of Itema India, has proven his abilities to head the operation.
Fabio Mazzucchetti, sales and marketing director, and member of the board of Itema India,
represented Somet-Vamatex at the inauguration. Savio was represented by Paolo Puntoni, marketing
director, and member of the board of Itema India. With this new organization, the companies of the
group — with a presence in India for many years — have consolidated their commercial expansion in
which they have been leaders in the relevant sectors with the acquisition of important market
shares. The establishment of Itema India proves the strategic vision of the group and its
willingness to grow with coherence and engagement towards its mission. These conditions and
establishing a worldwide presence are positive indicators for the future of the Itema Group.
