CEMATEX, ITMF Announce World Textile Summit

The European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers (CEMATEX), owner of ITMA 2011, and the
International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF) have announced the ITMA-ITMF World Textile
Summit 2011, a high-level business forum to be held alongside ITMA 2011 in Barcelona, Spain. The
one-day event, which will take place on September 21, one day before the exhibition opens, will
gather textile industry leaders and global influential thinkers and policymakers in fields such as
economics, trade, technology and sustainability. The summit will include presentations and
interactive panel discussions that will provide a global perspective on the opportunities and
challenges the textile industry will face and will offer new ideas on how to remain successful in
textile manufacturing and the supply chain.

Topics to be discussed include the post-credit-crunch environment and market growth and
investment prospects; the future of relationships between major exporting countries and their
markets in Europe and America; the importance of “clean” practices and the impact of consumer
pressure for a greener industry; and the ways in which upcoming developments such as
nanotechnology, wearable electronics and low-input manufacturing are likely to change the kinds of
products that are made and their manufacturing processes.

“The textile industry must adapt constantly to changing world conditions, and this has never
been more important than in the aftermath of the economic crisis of the past two years,” said Steve
Combes, vice president, CEMATEX. “The World Textile Summit 2011 will give those with strategic
responsibilities clearer insights into the future challenges and, at the same time, add significant
value to a visit to Barcelona during ITMA week. The ITMF, with its global membership of leading
textile companies, is the perfect partner and we are delighted to be working with this federation.”

The World Textile Summit is CEMATEX and ITMF’s first joint initiative and is organized in
partnership with international event organizer MP International and the World Textile Information
Network, a global textiles news and information provider.
