Oerlikon Textile Participates In German Technology Symposium Held In Bangkok

Germany-based Oerlikon Textile GmbH & Co. KG recently took part in a German Technology
Symposium & Exhibition held in Bangkok. The event — organized by the German-Thai Chamber of
Commerce in cooperation with the German Embassy to Thailand and the Thailand Convention and
Exhibition Bureau — presented some 60 sessions, each with a special focus. More than 200 companies
attended the four-day event.

Oerlikon Textile hosted a textile session that included presentations on market trends and
technology. In his opening presentation, Andreas Engelhardt, Oerlikon Saurer Arbon, introduced the
company, talked about market trends and made some recommendations for the Thai textile industry.
Matthias Rudolph, Oerlikon Textile Far East, focused on technology introducing Oerlikon Barmag’s
new Winding INtegrated Godet Solution (WINGS). Oliver Lemke, Oerlikon Barmag, highlighted Oerlikon’s
eFK energy-conscious godet-driven machine for yarn production.

The following day, the Oerlikon staff met with Damri Sukhotanang, permanent secretary,
Ministry of Industry, and Virat Tandaechanurat, executive director, Thailand Textile Institute, to
discuss market trends and ways the Thai textile industry can remain competitive by moving towards
higher-end textile markets by using upgraded technology.

Thailand’s domestic textile and apparel industry generates more than US$7 billion in exports
and employs more than 1 million people.
