Schlafhorst, a Germany-based Saurer GmbH & Co. KG company, reports it recently delivered the
300,000th Autoconer 338 winding unit to China-based Weiqiao Textile, a subsidiary of Shandong
Weiqiao Pioneering Group Co. Ltd. The delivery was part of a major order from Weiqiao comprising
more than 100 machines. Weiqiao primarily produces cotton yarn, greige fabric and denim and is
China’s largest producer of cotton textiles.

To commemorate the installation of the 300,000th machine, Peter Schwaiger, Schlafhorst sales
manager responsible for China, presented a plaque to Shuzhu Jiao, director of technology retrofit
office, Shandong Weiqiao.

According to Schlafhorst, when introduced in 1997, the Autoconer 338 revolutionized automatic
package winding with its sensor technology and state-of-the-art control and regulation features
such as the Autotense FX for yarn tension control. Various components of the machine have been
updated and replaced since the machine was introduced. Late last year, Schlafhorst also introduced
the Autoconer 338 Gold, which is available with special performance kits.
India has become the main market for the Autoconer machine, according to Schlafhorst, with
more than 80,000 winding units in operation in that country.
