Fabricator EnablesWarp/Weft Fabric Analysis
Scotland-based ScotWeave Ltd. has developed Fabricator software to analyze a dobby woven fabric sample and generate construction information for that sample. First, a flatbed scanner is used to scan the actual fabric. Next, as Fabricator examines the image, details such as warp and weft colors, thread density and weave structure are identified.“[T]he particular characteristics of a piece of suiting or furniture fabric are determined not just by the mix of colors which make up a pattern, but by the manner in which the cloth has been woven on the loom,” said Dave Kemp, managing director.“Our Fabricator system is a groundbreaking step forward in reducing the time and cost of analyzing fabrics.”
