Atlas, Intertek Enter Agreement With Guangzhou Electric Apparatus Research Institute

Atlas Weathering Services Group (AWSG), a division of Chicago-based Atlas Material Testing
Technology LLC and Intertek Testing Services HK Ltd., Equipment Services Division have entered into
an agreement with Guangzhou Electric Apparatus Research Institute to be the sole service provider
of AWSG recognized methods of outdoor weathering testing and laboratory accelerated testing
services in China and Hong Kong. The new services will be provided under the name GEARI Weather
Testing Center (GWTC).

“As China continues to expand its role in the global marketplace by increasing product
development and exports, materials durability testing and service life prediction will become even
more important,” said Jack L. Martin, president, AWSG. “GWTC now offers convenient testing for
international standards in China.”

AWSG has trained and authorized GWTC to perform outdoor weathering, laboratory accelerated
weathering using xenon and fluorescent devices, and evaluation services as specified in ASTM, ISO
and SAE standards. AWSG has performed a quality review to confirm that strict quality control
guidelines for GWTC are in place to provide superior material durability solutions. GWTC is a
CNACL/ISO accredited laboratory testing center for materials testing.GWTC operates two atmospheric
exposure sites in southern China – a subtropical site in Guangzhou and a tropical site in Hainan.
In addition to these test sites, GWTC has affiliations with other test sites located throughout
China that will further expand the AWSG Worldwide Exposure Network offering Atlas clients testing
on five continents and more than 25 outdoor sites worldwide.
